Location - Beach

Recover on the mile long sandy beach and relax in the nearly all-year warm sea at „one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil“ (magazine GEO, Spain) in Praia de Jauá with its miles long beaches. The beach of Jauá is situated north of Salvador da Bahia at the 'Estrada do Coco' surrounded by snow like white dunes. It is very popular. At some parts reefs form natural pools when the tide is out allowing to swim even by high waves outside, children and non-swimmers adore it. The southern and northern beaches are almost deserted and invite you to extensive wanderings.

In Jauá itself there are some restaurants, bars, supermarkets and other shopping facilities and you can sample a host of Bahian food and drinks in any of the more than forty beach pavilions.

Distances from the hotel: Beach 350 m; Salvador Airport 17 km (app. 20 min by car), use our transfer service; Pelourinho - Historic Centre of Salvador 40 km (app. 45 min by car).

There is a regular busservice to the town centre of Salvador and some neighbour villages (not at night). Buses stop in front of the hotel. We offer airport transportation, excursions, taxi service and car rental is available at the reception.

Equipment

The Hotel LAGOA e MAR (we speak English) is situated in a tropical garden on the banks of a natural lake and consists of twelve spacious circular bungalows (app. 40 m²). The complex has a swimming pool with a separate pool for small children, sun terrace (with bedchairs and sunshades), bar with reading-room, playground and a restaurant. We have internet access and fax.

Accommodations - Bungalows

Each bungalow (suite) contains a bedroom with double bed (king size), fan and TV, a living room with two couchbeds, radio and refrigerator, a bathroom with WC and shower and a veranda complete with a hammock, a table and seats, offering enough room for up to three adults.
Four bungalows are specially adapted for people with wheel chairs.

Board

Accommodation price includes a rich breakfast. Enjoy the wide range of Bahian and international cuisine in our restaurant. Bahian specialities at the coast (Litoral Norte) are mainly seafood: fish, shrimps (small and large), calamari, lobster and so on, fried or as 'moqueca', that means boiled in a coconut milk sauce with vegetables and spices.

Beef, mutton, chicken, spaghetti, vegetarian dishes and salads complete our menu. And there are snacks for the small appetite.

Activities

Snorkelling, wave and sand surfing, sea-fishing, beach-walking.

Charged:
Surfbord rental, canoe ride, sea fishing, excursions by boat, golf, water- and zoological park, wreck diving, horse riding on the beach (at the moment difficult), fish and pay with grill (in neighbour village).

For excursions hire our car with English speaking chauffeur.

• Schooner tour through Salvador's All Saints Bay;
• Northern coast of Bahia - Litoral Norte with sea turtle stations, fortress Garcia d’Avila; Mangue Seco;
• Cachoeira - São Felix;
• Southern coast - Valença with Morro de São Paulo, Ituberá, Camamu, Itacaré;
• Lençois-Chapada Diamantina (by bus).

Car rental is available at the reception desk.

Lisbon: TAP Portugal offers a daily flight Lisbon - Salvador (direct and non-stop) with connecting flights from London (Heathrow), Copenhagen, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Brussels, Luxembourg, Paris (Orly), Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Geneva, Milan (Malpensa).

Madrid: Air Europa has three weekly flights direct and non-stop from Madrid to Salvador with connection from London-Gatwick (LGW).

Frankfurt: Condor has two weekly flights direct and non-stop between Frankfurt/M and Salvador .

Paris: TAM flies once per week direct and non-stop from Paris (CDG) to Salvador (and continues to São Paulo/CGH). Return flight from Salvador to Paris (coming from São Paulo) is same day.

Milan: Italian flight company air italy offers once per week Milan (MXP)- Salvador and return.

United States

New York: American Airlines (AA) has direct flights from New York (JFK) via Miami (MIA) to Salvador (SSA). Return flight is next day.

Miami: TAM has on Sundays one weekly flight direct and non-stop from Miami (MIA) to Salvador with some connections.

Canada

There are flights from Montreal (via New York-LGA), Ottawa (via Chicago), Quebec (via New York-EWR) and Toronto (via Miami) to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro with connection to Salvador.
